The proposals for new rental towers in the West End continue to get submitted. There’s an older strata building here that was wound up some years ago. Now there’s a 22 storey rental tower proposed, with 198 secured rental units with 20% of the floor area secured for below-market rental units (approximately 37 units). Townline Homes have hired Boniface Oleksiuk Politano Architects to design the tower for the northeast corner of Davie Street and Cardero Street, (across from the twin rental towers at Zephyr, and next to Gabriola)
Originally the developer planned a condo and social housing tower in 2022, but now a bigger rental building is proposed, with below-market rents for a fifth of the the units.
