Here’s the Rolston on Granville Street, now that it’s completed. We last featured it just over two years ago when construction was starting. As we noted then, the architecture is bold – the architect is more elusive; Although various companies have been associated with the design as it has evolved, the current credit goes to IBI/HB. Here’s an interesting set of renders showing how the design evolved from the original ‘jenga’ design in 2007 to the final sales render from 2011.
The building replaces the Cecil Hotel – the bar where Greenpeace was born and more recently girls could be found wearing little more than a smile. The dramatic piece of architecture also features the total refurbishment of one of the oldest buildings in this part of the city, the Yale Hotel.
