2111 Main Street

The City Centre Motor Hotel opened in the 1950s on Main Street, and became an obvious redevelopment candidate twety years ago. If it had been developed a few years ago, it would have been a substantial mid-rise building like the Catalyst building next door, competed a couple of years ago.

Now, with the Broadway Plan allowing more height and density, there’s a proposal from Nicola Wealth (who bought the site in 2021) for a larger project. Following the Plan guidelines it has 446 rental apartments with 20% of the space leased at below-market rents. The buildings, designed by Musson Cattell Mackey, are 24 and 22 storeys, with retail under both towers, and 5,000 sq ft of cultural space in the north tower.
